A really solid set, both of these bands are highly recommended. A little bit atmospheric country, a little bit indie-rock, a whole lot of good music. The church where the event was being held (Ajax, ON - just outside of Toronto) was WAY over capacity - so much so that they had to set up a live stream in a seperate room for fans that couldn't fit in the actual auditorium. The line up outside (in the pouring rain) started to fill up as early as 3 hours prior to doors, the kids were definitely die-hard fans and would do anything (clearly) to get a good seat inside. There was something like 2,000 plus people lining up around the entire building. Inside was amazing too, when the event started the crowd and overall vibes were unlike anything I usually experience in the GTA. Everyone was feeling the music and partying super hard. --- by Matt Vardy ![]() Tonight Tonight, livemusicTO's featured artist of the month for April, was kind enough to do an interview with us. This band is destined for greatness, I can just feel it in the music. If you haven't already, make sure you check them out and don't miss their CD Release show April 17th. lmTO: Tonight Tonight used to act under the name Beauti, how did you guys come up with the new name? To start off, the reason why we changed the name is because we felt that we have progressed a lot as a bandsince the start of Beauti. On our last Christmas break Colin thought of the name Tonight Tonight not knowing it was a lyric from our song Learning to cope. After going through a list of names our management and ourselves felt that Tonight Tonight stuck out the most and best represented our sound and image. lmTO: You recently relocated from BC to ON, how has Ontario treated you so far and what inspired you to make the move? Yes we miss the days where we can look up at the rolling ice cap mountains and breathe in the fresh un damp air and the fact that we can roll into Tim Hortins with our debit cards and make placement on a large double doub and Long John doughnut. But nonetheless Ontario has been pretty fun so far. We have been welcomed into the music scene here with open arms and encouragement. Being in BC we wouldn't have been able to make to where we are right now. lmTO: Let’s talk about this tour that you are just wrapping up with Hometown Beatdown. How has it been and what are some highlights? From playing the name game to 16 person sleep overs we have had nothing less of a great time on the road with them. And one NON highlight was getting our Suburban stolen but luckily enough we had lots of support and encouragement from the Hometown crew. lmTO: Rumour has it you've been touring in a sweet SUV, which recently got stolen, but somehow was returned to you. What a miracle - tell us the story! So a few days into the tour myself (Matt) Tim and Dillon (HTBD) went to the local mall for some starbucks and 40 mins later we went back to the parking lot to leave but found that our Suburban was no where to be found. At first I thought that our other band mates and HomeTown were punking us. But then realized that everyone else was still sleeping at the house. So later that night the cops called us to tell us that they had found our ride at a local train station. The sad part is that the people who stole our wheels ate all our cookies that we left in the vehicle and wrote some profanites on our glove box. lmTO: You've had the chance to play with a lot of local bands now, who would be some of your favourite pals to play with at a show? We have had the privilage of sharing the stage with a lot of up and coming bands from our area. We dont really have a favorite, all of the bands we have played with have been really awesome. Recently tho we have gotten to know the HomeTown Beatdown crew pretty well and have welcomed them into our hearts. lmTO: Do you guys have a favourite song to play? Haha. we all like different parts of different songs, so I don't think we can all agree on one song. They are all fun to play. lmTO: What is your favourite Toronto venue to play? Well we haven't played a alot of Toronto venues. But i would have to say either The Casbah in Hamilton or 24/7 Church in Burlington would have to be our favorite places to play due to atmosphere and people. lmTO: Any crazy fan moments that you care to share? We haven't had anything to crazy happen to us on the road except one time in Winnipeg we were chilling in our bus and a cluster of girls surrounded the bus and demanded one of us come out and take pictures and autograph things for them. We also have really good friends in St. Catharines who bake each band member their favorite cookies and have been sweet friendship bracelets for us. lmTO: What’s up next for Tonight Tonight? Well following our CD release April 17th we are hoping to get on some american festivals including Cornerstone and a cross Canada tour in the summer. There has been a lot of talk about who we are going to be touring with, and where our future tours are going to take place, but nothing has been fully confirmed at this moment. We are just really excited for what God has in store for us and are so thankful for the opportunities he has brought our way this far. --- by Matt Vardy |
